Mae hyn yn yr edefyn ar gyfer, yn fy marn i, yr iaith harddaf yn y byd, y Gymraeg. Yr wyf wedi bod i Gymru lawer o weithiau, ac yr wyf bob amser wedi bod â diddordeb mewn diwylliant Gaeleg ac ieithoedd, ac fy gobeithio os byddaf yn penderfynu mynd Brifysgol ym Mangor, Gogledd Cymru, byddaf yn dysgu o leiaf ychydig o iaith hon :D.

Canran y siaradwyr Cymraeg yng Nghymru [611000 Cyfanswm o]:

Siaredir hefyd yn Lloegr (fel arfer y sir ger Cymru) [150000], yr Ariannin [5000], Unol Daleithiau [2500] a Chanada [2200].

I said though that if I go to live in Wales this year then I would like to learn it cuz it's a very beautiful language :D.

Fel 'n esmwyth glandri dydy at chrapia? Im yn cysidro 'i Id cara at areithia Cymraeg , 'i s 'm anwylyn dafodiaith namyn Cadwa yn meddwl bacia at 'm ddiwrnodau i mewn 'n Ffrengig a Spanish ddosbarthau a fel 'n anaelau baen a 'r ffaith a Dwi mo 'n abl at hyd yn oed adeilada barn i mewn 'n Ffrengig a a Alla ond adnabod am 5 eiriau i mewn Spanish!

How easy do you reckon it is to pick up? Uni sent me a brochure yesterday and they said that they offer a module-course in Welsh or just some Welsh classes for those who cant speak more than a few words in it already. Im considering it, Id love to speak Welsh, it's my favourite language but I keep thinking back to my days in French and Spanish classes and how terrible they were and the fact that I am not able to even construct a sentence in French and that I can only know about 5 words in Spanish!

It really depends, it's a lot harder than your average european language - you're really looking at starting from scratch, the alphabet is different: like f = v, ff = f and then of course there are new ones...dd, ll etc but if you're into learning languages and become immersed in it (the best I have for immersion is hearing my boyfriend on the phone to his mother but even then I pick up a few phrases) I think if you really worked at it you could have a decent knowledge of the language in a couple years. Yeah, I am at Aber Uni and they do the same sort of thing with classes and they do seem to help people, although I have never taken any.

I have lived in Wales for about a year now and know how to pronounce Welsh words now but other than that I only really know basics = numbers, greetings, small phrases like "dwi caru ti/dwi'n di garu di" and of course "dwi ddim yn siarad cymreag!"

Also, in the South their Welsh seems to be really different!

My Gran is Welsh, she taught me a few words here and there when I was a child. I can't read or write any Welsh, but I too would love to learn the language.

It's a fab online course for learning conversational Welsh. I've downloaded the mp3s to my Ipod. I'm currently on lesson 6, and I can already say a lot of key phrases (I tried them out when I was in Conwy not long ago. I was understood!) I'm going to Pembrokeshire for bird watching soon (such an exciting lifestyle :p), I might try to converse in Welsh there. Although I've heard not many speak it in South Wales.

Ydw, yn y de, does neb yn siarad Cymraed. Mae pobl yn ei siarad yn bennaf yng Ceredigion (lle dwy'n byw), Gwynedd ac Anglesey.
Dwi dddim yn siarad, ond y fforddoraw or ddysguywdrwy sgyrsiauyr wyf yn meddwl.
Pob lwc :)

Good evening!
Yes, in the south, nobody really speaks Welsh. People mainly speak it in Ceredigion (where I live, Gwynedd and Anglesey
I don't really speak it, but the best way to learn is through conversation practice I think
Good luck :)

croeso i caergybi, that's all i know! but for a Brythonic language, it's quite similar to Irish, for example Happy New Year is A Blwyddyn Newydd Da! and in Irish it's something completely different actually but Blwyddyn is like the Irish Blian, which means the same, as do Newydd and Nua! I find it mad that even the Munster accent in English sounds like kind of like a stronger version of the Welsh accent. Celtic brothers!

'Dwi'n siarad Cymraeg bob dydd, oherwydd 'dwi'n mynd i ysgol Cymraeg. Mae Cymraeg yn iaith hyfryd a 'dwi'n falch yn y ffaith bod 'dwi'n rhygl yn yr iaith!
