HELLO DIVAS: LRDL TO THE NATION SONG CONTEST
Meremaa wins on home ground and ties with for the number of victories
It is decided - Meremaa's own La Rappresentante di Lista and their banger "Diva" will represent Griffin Empire at the 213th Nation Song Contest. Griffiniskaja Laul took place in Mare Incatato, the capital of Meremaa, which is definitely the most successful principality in the competition at the moment. With her fourth win, she tied with Westersund for the number of wins, and unlike Westersund, she had far better results in other editions (including the fact that she never finished in last place). The song "Diva" won the maximum number of points from as many as three members of the international jury and two members of the televoting, thus taking first place in both categories.
The second place was won by the principality of Foreõsvdetrre, whose representative - Will Joseph Cook already represented the Griffin Empire at the 212th Waiting List Song Contest, which was held right in Mare Incatato, in Meremaa. His song "Kisses" was an early favourite, and in the lead for a while, but ultimately finished fifteen points short of the winner. The third place went to the song "Keep It Up" for Pzyerüyölkea.
Yseult, winner of the ninth Griffiniskaja Laul presented the last votes of the evening
and declared her own principality as a winner.
A DECADE OF GRIFFIN AT NSC
This edition is very important for the Griffin Empire because it is the jubilee, our tenth song will grace the stage of the Nation Song Contest. After a successful debut, Empire's decade at NSC has been relatively successful with four (hopefully five) finalists and five songs failing to qualify for the finals. The most successful song is the debut entry "The Key to Life on Earth", which enabled the very next NSC to be organized in the Griffin capital. The most unsuccessful attempt was another Griffiniskaja Laul winner - Christian French with the song "avalanche" which finished in 21st place in the semi-finals.
Unfortunately, we cannot boast of a variety of languages. Only two songs were not in English: "Divlja" in Serbian and "Diva" in Italian. We can say that the songs were similar in genre as well, with most of them falling in either indie rock, indie pop, folk pop, pop or punk category. You can watch a recap of all Griffin's songs below.
GTV did not track the statistics for the number of points that were received, but it did for the points that the Griffin Empire gave. When the semi-final, final and REJU votes are added up, the most points went to Mormadorei, followed by Doire, Calypso, Kadis and Comino. The most played non-Griffin song from NSC was "Hell On Earth" by Circa Waves, and the edition with the most songs that charted on Griffin charts was NSC 209 in Tcher-Racoi.
Thank you for the music guys, it is really nice to be part of this community.
And traditionally, we have to thank the members of the jury who made this show happen and despite our bullying decided to help us choose our tenth entry.
Thank you Svobodnia, Effiland, Mormadorei, Tanoiro, Moisantia, Rumia, Bigicia, Kadis, and Ugaly!
