 The football excitement is behind us, but now we are going towards to the one of this years's biggest sport event in our continent, the 20th European championship in athletics, which will be held 26 th of July - 1 st of August in Barcelona. This event will be held in Montjuic Olympic Stadium, the same place where the Summer olympic games 1992 took place. This year' s edition will include the biggest number of athletes in European championships ever participated (1.626 in total, 891 men and 735 women). In the last EC in Göteborg (Sweden) four years ago, 1.288 athletes participated. All 50 European Athletics Member Federations will be represented at the championships featuring at least one athlete.

This is the link when you can check the timetable and schedule of all disciplines:

And here is the mascot of the chapionship :D :

Now I would like to hear your opinion about this. I am pretty sure that at least some of you watch and follow the athletics, in my opinion it is one of the nicest sport disciplines, called "the Queen of the sports".... Of course, you are free to leave your comments any time, before the event, during the event....who are your best athletes, your favourites in this championships, expectations etc etc. I am taking the obligation to update the each day' s results when the championships begin, but of course, if I forget, anyone of you can do it. I expect that!

In the end, I would like to introduce the croatian team for Barcelona:

Women:
Blanka Vlaši? (high jump)
Ana Šimi? (high jump)
Sandra Perkovi? (discus throw)
Vera Begi? (discus throw)
Nikolina Horvat (400 m hurdles)

Men:
Dario Horvat (100m run)
Jurica Grabuši? (110m hurdles)
Nedžad Mulabegovi? (shot put)
Martin Mari? (discus throw)
Roland Varga (discus throw)
Marin Premeru (discus throw)
Andras Haklits (hammer throw)

Waiting for your comments and good luck to all! :D

I'm already waiting for the Opening Ceremony at "La Font Màgica" (Magic Fontain). In front of National Museum of Art of Catalonia and Maria Cristina Avenue, with the the venecians towers that seems to be the campanile of Saint Marcus.

Opening Ceremony at 22:00 (CET)

Because it won't be broadcasted here

I think you could watch it from RTVE web page, also all the "proofes" (I don't know how it's said in english)

http://www.rtve.es/ Spanish

Probably at 22:00 CET will appear a link at the main page to watch it by stream.

Or you can watch it by TV3 (catalan television) here:

http://www.tv3.cat/directes Catalan

You can say the (qualifying) heats and the events or races ;)

* Proof es prueba, pero prueba de delito, para acusar a alguien, demostración y tal :p

Use wordreference.
That's what I usually check when I have doubts about a word, and there you can find the different words in different contexts :)

 lol

How was that? Tell me some details.

Bad music, repetitive without voice (well only some female screams :? )
Magic Fountain was good doing the task for what is design...but with the whole performance was poor.
Also dancer moving above the fountain restrained by cables.

Then the athlets, a very little number of them passing in front of the fountain one after the other cause there isn't enought space. Some delegations haven't send athlets and the flag was waved by volunteers, like Lichenstein.

Then the appeared on a ring above the fountain. Where the organisation made a big mistake. They put the flag of England insted of Great Britain.

Then the speeches with jeer to the President of Generalitat of Catalonia... :x

In brief I think it was a bad ceremony, if you compared with the perfectly organized ceremony of Olympic Games in 1992.

Let's hope the important part of the Championships that are the races, would be well organized.

PD: Well when has passed some hours, and think about it, an as many people have said, it's an European championship not Olympic Games, probably it was not that bad... :?

When I found the video, I'll put it here. ;)
