Valienté is a country found in the west of the continent, and is generally considered as a wealthy and technologically advanced country. It has one of the highest income rates in the world, and a relatively high life expectancy rate. The country is politically centre-left - it is socially liberal and tolerant, but also has higher tax rates in comparison to its neighbours which fund various state-owned industries such as Health, Energy, and Transport. It is also a semi-presidential republic, with the president Maxine Calloux being from the ruling Social Democrats party. Valienté is also known for being home to one of the biggest LGBT populations in the continent; one in five of its citizens identify under the label, and enjoy equal rights to straight citizens. Minorities in general are treated very well here. Mineauville (pictured above) is a popular tourist destination especially amongst LGBT persons, most likely because there are numerous gay-friendly social events located throughout the city. It is also very aesthetically pleasing according to most visitors, with its scenery hybrid between urban and nature. Residents of Mineauville are very passionate about nature and being eco-friendly, as well as maintaining a peaceful atmosphere. The country has not been to war for over three hundred years. Around 70 years ago movie theatres spread throughout the nation, and they were a massive hit - however the country's filmmaking industry was lacking in many aspects given the recent emergence of the technology involved - and therefore the majority of the movies showing were imported from foreign countries. Usually however, these were not in the spoken language of Valienté and so the government began to produce multiple state-sponsored language courses for it's citizens. This led to an unprecedented social transformation; people began not only to reach high levels of proficiency in foreign languages, but they also began to imitate the cultures - from things such as clothes, hairstyles, and the names of their children, towns, and even the country name. Prior to 1956, Valienté was known as "The Formal Collaboration of States". In modern years, this trend has been accelerated by widespread usage of the internet - with 96% of the country stating they use the internet 'on a daily basis'. According to the latest census, there are fluency rates of 98% in English, 79% in French, and 31% in Italian - making it a linguistically diverse nation. There are also many minority languages, mostly spoken by the many migrant populations living in Valienté.
