Apparently the guy who co-wrote the song and plays guitar on stage, Tommaso Ottomano, is an experienced music video director who apart from Lucio's videos also has made videos for Måneskin. So considering that experience I think they probably will have a thought-through staging.

I expect the betting odds to be particularly doubtful about Lucio's song: it could crash and burn, coming 26th, or could surprise all and win (even though more difficult, since televoters are not used to this kind of music). This is its range. One thing I'm sure: Lucio Will represent us well.

Remember my words guys.
Lucio Corsi will steal the hearts of all the journalists and various esc commenters in Basel as he did in Sanremo. Everyone was surprised by his profound thoughts during the interviews being always humble.
He is such an incredible, fragile, genuine, talented, courageous and modern artist.
Each time I listen to this song I get emotional. It touches some memories, past and present, where, I think, once in our lives we have lived
Have you ever felt inappropriate or fragile being always under pressure?
I think Yes. His song is gem and in this period, you know what I'm talking about, we need gentle vibes and kindness.also.
Love love love it.

I thought about it. I strongly believe that not sending Olly to Basel was the right choice. Italy was aware that they did not have a power ballad on par with other years. And Olly use autotune... Maybe only Giorgia with her vocals, simplicity and experience could have done well (even if the song was super basic). However, the initial "great love" for Olly, which for me was superficial, would have turned into a furious and toxic hatred of the Bubble fans. Why? In the past Olly said homophobic and racist phrases. He was younger and when you are young you say stupid things. Italy forgave him but Europe does not forget. His words said recklessly would have followed him like a criminal record and he would have been ground and massacred. Marta Donà, already experienced in the ESC world, knows how things can get out of hand and become terrible in this competition. So they opted for Lucio. In my opinion a very intelligent choice. The song is beautiful and has its memorable side but it does not wear the clothes of the favorite. He is a dark horse and a devastating grower who could also channel the votes of the "old school" audience. The underlying message of the song is also beautiful and I have read of people who, thanks to Lucio, have managed to process a little their pain of not feeling "tough". I have read other forums and I can already say that some far-sighted eurofans are starting to tell others who underestimate Lucio not to give up on Italy. According to these eurofans, Lucio can have the same magic as Sobral. "Meh" at the beginning and then a real tank in the main event. Lucio could also enter the collective imagination, which always tries to create comparisons, more or less correctly with David Bowie. For me, Lucio is dangerous because he has shown he knows how to play in singing competitions (as a debutant he performed an exceptional Sanremo). He is very cunning and knows how to construct the staging. Not least, he has a kind of song that has no opponents. While some bops and ballads will be fighting each other for points, Lucio is there alone waiting to collect more apples.

I really enjoyed seeing the love of Scandinavians for Lucio's song. I don't know, maybe we will get high marks for Lucio from the Scandinavian juries.
His song still reads ''The wrong place" or "Love is on my side" than Sobral to me, so 3-27 televote points?

Ah, now this is more like it, Italy. A mysterious, intriguing artist with a timeless slice of balladry that harkens back to the 70s in a way that's authentic and likeable. It's a very charming package. Volevo essere un duro builds itself up so tastefully and swirls at all the right moments. It's softly anthemic. I think Lucio's voice helps a lot with the magic here. It's gorgeously soothing and silky. Overall, it's a wonderful song for Eurovision, and I can imagine it doing extremely well.

I'm going to give :10: points for now because I need an excuse to come back here probably very soon to deliver 12 points and gush again about what a lovely song this is.

I hope Olly's concerts go well. It's unfortunate he had to turn down Eurovision. I would have been upset if a song I really loved had won but then the artist couldn't go, so I sympathize with those that have lost a fave in Olly.

Achille Lauro meets The Makemakes!

I don't get it. His appearance screams wanting to be noticed and appear different from everyone else, in the way only a high school theater student doing their own makeup and clothes would. But the song sounds like a filler track from a 70s mainstream pop album, mildly inspired by David Bowie. Wimpy, bland and unmemorable is what it is, and as always from Italy, way too much lyrics. Tommy Cash did it better!

The staging is also a bit static, i can imagine them getting rid of the piano and him being a bit more active and expressive on the ESC stage. The only really good thing about this is that it features a Gibson Marauder, one of the most hated guitars of all time. The Blinx / Bubsy the Bobcat of guitars! Hope they'll keep that.

I can see why Olly got nixed because, just like all previous Ollies, his song just wasn't any good, but this isn't much better. This has got to be a lower half placement for Italy, unless they somehow come up with an AMAZING staging, and i doubt they will.

I have listened to the top 2 songs and for once in recent years I actually liked them both.

It baffles me when singers decline to represent their country and to sing on the in effect biggest music stage in the world but it's not the first time.

There is some 80s-ish Italian nostalgic timelessness over Lucio's song, mid-tempo turning slightly glam-rock later and this is a melodic combination which we often appreciate here in Scandinavia. It will, I think get points from us.

Not as impressed by the singer though. As someone else pointed out he reminds of a sick Michael Jackson and while some find that cool others will not. He sings well enough but appearance counts as we know.

I need to listen to it a few more times but for now I give it a 7.
