I'm so not sure how to rate that song. I always think - this is in some sort modeled after "Pump it", but then again, I don't know enough about Käärijä to draw such a conclusion. It still could be very original and always has been his style. Nevertheless I can't help comparing these two all the time and I'm feeling Electric Callboy so much more... Something's missing here for me. At the moment: a solid 6 (Studio version was even 7)

By the way, gave Finland three years in a row :12:. I think no other country managed that before.
I'm still sad Younghearted didn't take the win last year. I think it was my favorite overall. I was never a fan of The Rasmus entry, but Käärijä's entry is so much fun! Can't wait to see how well it does. :D

(What was their entry in 2021? Can't remember right now )

I am in the minority, but I liked last year's UMK so much more because it was more diverse! I had about 5 faves (including The Younghearted) from 7, but this year "only" 2-3. So I am really happy that Cha cha cha made it! :)

On a more serious note, I'm still shocked how Benjamin ended up on the last place. Granted the line-up was super strong, Hoida Mut was a bop xcry

but sadly the execution wasn't the best
same thing with kuuma jaba, it was the ultimate bop but Isaac effectively sabotaged himself with that live

Tumblr, mostly.
Are you kidding me? The dancers are exactly WHAT MAKES IT BRILLIANT.

The weakest point in Cha Cha Cha is right at the key change, when Käärijä is left alone for five seconds to prance around like a radioactive crab on a nitrous oxide trip. It's the only moment where you're left thinking "oh, this is silly" (a feeling to be avoided at all costs). Once he mounts the Cha Cha Centipede the vibe is fully restored, but if "Cha Cha Cha" has any weaknesses, the one describe above would be it.

I like the dancers as well, it honestly fits the mood of the song quite well. The staging just needs to be a little bit more slick, keep the mood of the song but don't exaggerate, and make it a little bit more accessible to the general public and then Turku 2024

UMK is amazing! I wish my national selection would take notes and copy some of the things from Finland.

The way the songs are presented and you actually get to hear about the songwriting journey for each song – putting the songwriters into focus as well. Love that so much!
And then watching all participants reacting to each others' songs. It really makes me smile. I have no clue what they're actually saying , but you can still tell exactly what they're thinking.

The music is actually in focus in a way that's down to earth and inclusive of everyone. Love it, love it, love it. :D
