I think this is the first time, that Azerbaijan takes a San Marino-reject.

I'm pretty sure this wasn't rejected by San Marino. Probably both countries accepted it and the songwriting team went with Azerbaijan for obvious reasons, and then San Marino had to scramble, hence the two-day out of the blue digital NF.

Azerbaijan!! I didn't see this coming! I was awaiting great stuff from Malta (and didn't get it) and Russia - but not from Az. And then I'm captivated from the very start of the song!
Love the middle eastern rhytms and those quirky Kleopatrra's and the voice from the past. Great mix!
Not sure if I am going straight for my third 12 this year - or whether I should start with only a 10.
But having followed Az's stage shows ever since their debut I feel confident that this will end up as a solid 12 for me!!

Efendi says about her song:
"Cleopatra is a song about trusting your gut instinct, standing up for yourself and being a “queen” - even when things get tough and especially if someone betrays or hurts you. It is truly a song about freedom, a celebration of all cultures and all sexualities and it’s a song that is meant to inspire people to be who they are and to be proud of themselves - just as Cleopatra was. She was a queen who went through love, heartbreak, and betrayal, but she stood up for herself and is now remembered as an icon of strength and femininity."

I am not saying that it's a contender to win, but to do well enough to qualify? I don't know.
It's really divisive. If it qualifies, I am sure it's going to do a Samra (who has a better song, though questionable vocals) or worse.
I can't see this topping or even matching last year's results.

With a strong televote and very low jury vote (let's assume) this will still do much better than Samra. Samra's televote was quite modest.

This can easily go high with televote if they stage it smart way and have ballads around.

She is not voiceless. I remember her from Böyük Səhnə. She was good at singing live back then https://youtu.be/hUZriQ2efQk I don‘t think she has any degraded ever since

I recall people voicing similar concerns for Eleni Foureira yet she slayed, vocally was good too (with some good help from the backings) despite moving a lot on stage.

Skeletons was my first in 2017, too. Easily the best Azeri entry. I was trying to find out more but Isa Melikov's work, but I couldn't find anything really. So it's nice to hear he's active.

I'm a big fan so I follow him on instagram, he shares fancy stories from Baku's iconic restaurants. xheat xheat
Not much about his music tho, he should be more active and bless us with his beautiful productions.

I cannot stop listening to this song!!!

She will smash it on stage! I think it's like Fuego - Helena had a good version but Eleni had an amazing one and only Eleni could pull off a performance that good on stage.

Cleopatra with Efendi is something Senhit couldn't do.

It's the fire, the energy, the attitide, the voice.... Everything is perfect! I think this is the winner of 2020

This song has nothing to do with Fuego, can you all just stop-

Also, I expect an amazing staging for this song, especially since Sacha Jean Baptiste is rumored to do it (I saw that on Twitter, so might not be true). They should really make something interesting during the chanting part.

When I mentioned Fuego it wasn't to compare the songs or say they are similar.

I said they both did the right thing and picked the best singer for the song
