Continuing the journey through the Eurovision 2024 rehearsals, the stage lights shine brightly on Moldova, Azerbaijan, and Australia as they take center stage for their initial run-throughs.
Moldova 🇲🇩 – Natalia Barbu with In The Middle:
@eurovision @Natalia Barbu official sings, plays strings and finds her wings, all at Moldova’s first rehearsal 🇲🇩 #Eurovision2024
This marks the 11th performance in the lineup for the first Semi-Final, or the 13th song if including the entries from the United Kingdom and Germany. While not precisely in the middle, it holds a prominent position. Natalia’s Eurovision journey isn’t new; she previously represented Moldova in 2007, finishing 10th.
The staging mirrors the static routine observed at the Moldovan national final, featuring hand claps, armography, and a white violin. However, Natalia now stands alone, framed by a stunning backdrop of seascapes, trees, flowers, and butterflies.
As the violin section unfolds, the LED wall transforms into enormous wings, casting Natalia as an angelic figure when viewed from the front. This presentation diverges significantly from previous acts in Eurovision 2024, showcasing innovation and artistry, all while Natalia effortlessly delivers her trademark high notes.
Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 – FAHREE feat. Ilkin Dovlatov with ÖzünlÉ™ Apar:
@eurovision Glittering graphics and powerhouse vocals, @Fahree feat. @İlkinDövlətov have got rehearsals in hand 🇦🇿 #Eurovision2024
FAHREE’s outfit, a blend of black and silver, exudes a sense of armor, while Ilkin opts for a black outfit with sparkling sleeves. Throughout most of the song, FAHREE commands the center stage, accompanied by monochrome graphics depicting an animated figure gradually emerging from water.
In the latter part of the performance, two colossal cupped hands materialize on stage, providing a striking backdrop for FAHREE as he delivers the final verse and chorus. This performance is difficult to describe since it goes beyond individual staging components, focusing on the vivid ambiance they create collectively.
Australia 🇦🇺 – Electric Fields with One Milkali (one blood):
@eurovision @Electric Fields are lighting up rehearsals for Australia in Malmö 🇦🇺 #Eurovision2024
Zaachariaha Fielding shines in a stunning white dress that dazzles under the arena lights, morphing into a vibrant rainbow at the outset. The performance unfolds into a euphoric cosmic spectacle, with bursts of light and color illuminating the LED wall, floor, and even the iconic cubes.
Accompanied by Michael Ross on keyboards, two backing singers, and the resonant sound of the didgeridoo, Zaachariaha takes command of the stage with dynamic movement, creating an inclusive atmosphere that radiates pure joy throughout the arena. Notably, the addition of Yankunytjatjara, an Aboriginal language, to the Eurovision repertoire marks a significant cultural milestone.
Furthermore, clarification on Zaachariaha’s preferred pronouns affirms either he/him or she/her, with the former used for consistency here.
We’ll return shortly with the first rehearsals for the rest of the countries, so stay tuned for more updates!
