The final of Eesti Laul 2016, Estonia’s national selection for next year’s Eurovision, is set to take place on March 5th 2016.
After a successful year in Vienna, with Elina Born and Stig Rästä finishing 7th for the Baltic nation, ERR are hoping to achieve bigger things in Stockholm. The submission period for the show and for potential writers/artists is currently set to end on November 2nd.
Stig Rästä, who finally won in 2015 after numerous attempts, including with The Outloudz and Traffic, has spurred on budding artists in Estonia to try their luck with the competition.
“It makes you view your work more critically. I could not be happier to know that the song I wrote and performed in Eesti Laul and the Eurovision Song Contest is being played all over Europe. This would have been difficult to achieve without the competition.”
The exact format of Eesti Laul 2016 is yet to be confirmed but it is likely that semi-finals will play a part once more in the selection process.
