Every year, there are so many moments during the season that unites fans, but tonight marked a very important moment in the season. Tonight, the allocation draw was held and with that, we now know where all the 37 countries will be voting and/or competing, let’s dive in!
The draw 2024
The draw started with the allocation of the 6 pre-qualified countries, that being Sweden as the host country, and the BIG 5(France, Germany, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom). The role of these 6 countries in the semi-final, is for them to be placed into either one of the semi-finals, where people from these countries can vote in that semi-final, they are placed into.

Before the draw properly started, it was explained by Martin Österdahl, that the Israeli broadcaster (KAN) had requested to be placed into the second semi-final, due to the first semi-final taking place over an Israeli memorial day, hence Israel was automatically placed into the second semi-final.
This also meant, that it automatically granted that the first semi-final will consist of 15 countries, while the second semi-final will consist of 16 countries. Of course, the top 10 from both semi-finals, will still advance to the final. The semi-finals will be purely decided by televote, but a back-up jury will be used, in case it’s needed. Meanwhile, the result of the final, will still be decided by both juries and televote.
