They might have played a smaller role in the results this year, but their role is still a huge part of the contest. The EBU has revealed the names of all the juries of this year’s song contest, as a reminder, for 2023 the juries only mattered in the final.
The juries of 2023
Just like in 2021 and 2022, the list of all jury members were published by the EBU on the Eurovision website after the final took place. In the past, the name of the juries were usually revealed before the contest took place, in order to provide more transparency, but this turned out to be a proper problem, with names of the juries were public ahead of time, with the risk of potential bribing.
Eventually, the EBU decided that the names can only be revealed after the contest has concluded, otherwise it would lead to automatic disqualification from the post. Cases that involved disqualification/removal of a jury member or bribing has even take place on multiple occasions over the years. Last year saw the example of 6 national juries being completed nullified, after the EBU found the results quite suspicious.
Hence why once again, in 2023, the names of each jury member has been revealed, without assigning their scores to their names. Among the juries, we do find a few familiar names, such as artists who have represented their country in the past. These include names such as Aminata from Latvia (2015), Brooke from Ireland (2022), Eneda Tarifa from Albania (2016), both Sopho Khalvashi (2007) and Anri Jokhadze (2012) from Georgia, Aliona “Moon” Munteanu from Moldova (2013) and both Laura “Sennek” Groeseneken (2018) and Alex Callier – Hooverphonic(2021) from Belgium.

4 members in Ireland and Latvia
For the sharp-eyed viewer, it should be apparent enough, that the list of juries for both of Ireland and Latvia only includes 4 members each. It can be suspected that one member of these 2 jury groups might have been suspended, but what the exact reason might be, is what remains unknown. Usually a replacement member is normally brought in to replace a removed jury member to even the field among all voting countries, but this was not the case this year.
It is unknown whether a explanation will be eventually given or not, from either the EBU or the two member broadcasters that are in question, that being RTÉ (Ireland) and LTV (Latvia).
For further details on how the jury members voted, everything should be published and available now.
Can #YOU recognize maybe how some of these jury members voted and do #YOU think the EBU is being transparent enough about the results?
