Another day, another country. Let’s see who our first Big 5 Dream Team artist is for Italy…

Marzia Gaggioli is your first choice for Italy next year, alongside Malika Ayane
Marzia Gaggioli is your first choice for Italy next year, alongside Malika Ayane

It was in fact a tie for first between two artists, but the first of those requested was Youtuber Marzia Gaggioli, who has become known for her many self-curated music videos and songs, as seen below. Would she be able to make the step from YouTube to San Remo and then Eurovision? Maybe we’ll find out in 2016!

Tied with Marzia for first is Italian-Moroccan singer Malika Ayane. She took part in San Remo 2008 as part of the newcomers section, so perhaps a return now Eurovision is involved could be on the cards?

Second place went to four artists, highlighting the diversity of Italian music; Giorgia, Annalisa, Eros Ramazotti and Nek. There were also a number of diverse artists that did not make the cut, as shown below.

The full suggestions for Italy (draws in random order);

Marzia Gaggioli, Malika Ayane, Giorgia, Annalisa, Eros Ramazotti, Nek, Raffaela Carrà, Congorock, Dolcenera, Francesca Michielin, Amanda Lear, Clap! Clap!, Loredana Berté, Io e la Tigre, The Bloody Beetroots, The Kolors, Laura Pausini, Emma Marrone, Rachel Zeffira, Raphael Gualazzi

The ESC United Dream Team so far;

  • Turkey – Gülşen
  • Armenia – Lilit Hovhannisyan
  • Czech Republic – Lenka Dusilová and Baromantika
  • San Marino – Valentina Monetta
  • Latvia – MNTHA
  • Belarus – Elena Sinyavskaya
  • Bosnia & Herzegovina – Dubioza Kolektiv
  • Slovakia – Celeste Buckingham
  • Italy – Marzia Gaggioli

Another Big 5 country tomorrow as we find out which artist you wanted most to see represent the United Kingdom!

Is Marzia the star? Should Malika sing instead, or someone else entirely? Share your thoughts below or join the discussion on our forum!

    Big no to the bloody beetroots, i was forced to endure a two hour live set of theirs in Oz, worst ever 2 hours at a music festival..

    Dissapointed Dolcenera didn’t make the cut.
