Danish Broadcaster DR has opened submissions for the 2015 Dansk Melodi Grand Prix and announced additional details regarding the contest.

As in 2014, DR will select 6 entries from the open submissions with an additional 3-4 entries from invited contributors.  The submission period is open until September 8th and the full submission rules are available in Danish and English.

DR’s entertainment manager, Jan Lagermand Lunde, explained that the broadcaster is looking for something different this year noting that “[t]he songs that do best in Eurovision are often those that have something to say.”   He went on to cite two specific examples from the this year’s contest: “Calm After the Storm” performed by The Common Linnets of The Netherlands and “Rise Like a Phoenix” performed by Conchita Wurst of Austria.  These were the top two finishers in the 2014 ESC Grand Final.  The Danish entry came in ninth place.

DMGP will be held on February 7th at the Gigantium in Aalborg with the Junior MGP held in the same location one week later.  This will be the fifth time Aalborg has been involved in hosting the contest.

Do you have any thoughts or predictions for this year’s DMGP?  What kind of song would you like to see represent Denmark in 2015?  Join the conversation HERE.
