As previously announced the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix songs were due to be announced on the 28th of January by Danish Broadcaster, DR. But, just as last year, the songs were leaked early!
This year, the songs appeared on Spotify prior to the official release of the songs, so, we can announce the ten songs competing for the title of Danish representative in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest are:
Anja Nissen “Never Alone”
Bracelet “Breakaway”
David Jay “Rays of Sunlight”
Jessica “Break it Good”
Kristel Lisberg “Who Needs A Heart”
Lighthouse X “Soldiers of Love”
Muri & Mario “To Stjerner”
Simone “Heart Shaped Hole”
Sophia Nohr “Blue Horizon”
Veronicas Illusion “The Wrong Kind”
Head of Entertainment at DR, Jan Lagermand Lundme, has said “Of course it is a pity that the songs have come out ahead of time” and continues “Now I’m looking forward to 13 February, where I’m sure the Danes would send the right song and artist off to Eurovision in Stockholm”.
The Danes will select their song on the 13th of February, where they will be hoping they select the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest winner, just like they did the last two times the contest was held in Sweden (2000 – Olden Brothers “Fly on the Wings of Love” & 2013 – Emmelie de Forest “Only Teardrops”) Denmark failed to qualify for the grand final in Vienna, this was the first time the Danes failed to qualify for the final since DQ failed in 2007.
