Weeks of negotiations have finally come to an end. The Austrian broadcaster ORF has made a decision regarding the host city of the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest: We’re all heading for the capital Vienna next year! The cities of Innsbruck and Graz were also in the running to host the huge event. The dates have previously been confirmed: 19, 21 and 23 May.

Innsbruck was said to have the most attractive financial offer but Alexander Wrabetz, the general director of ORF, had the final say and decided that the contest will be held in Vienna for the second time.

“We are very pleased with ORF’s decision to choose Vienna as the host city of the next Eurovision Song Contest,” said Jon Ola Sand, Executive Supervisor of the contest.

The chosen venue is Wiener Stadthalle. With a maximum capacity of 16,000 it’s the biggest of the three options.
