Belarus

Good news for aspiring talents in Belarus: The Belarusian Television and Radio Company (BTRC) has announced that applications for the Belarusian National Final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 are now open.

If you’re a permanent resident of Belarus, whether you’re a citizen or not, you can send an application in to 220807, Minsk, str. Makaenka, 9, BTRC marked “National qualifying round of song competition ‘Eurovision-2015′”. The deadline is 21 November 2014.

These preliminary entries will be screened by a professional jury, and at most 15 artists will be selected to move on to the televised national final, to take place no later than 23 January 2015. The winner of that contest will then be expected to compete under the Belarusian flag at Eurovision 2015 in Vienna (providing everything goes according to plan).

It was also reported by BelTA earlier this year that Belarusian-Norwegian Eurovision 2009 winner Alexander Rybak was on the look-out for female singers to form a girl group to compete in the Belarusian National Final. The auditions were from 19 to 22 October, in the cities of Mogilev, Grodno, Minsk, and Brest.

Here’s a photo, courtest BelTA, of Rybak in Grodno on the 19th with a bevy of Belarusian beauties vying for a spot in the group:
