Preparations for the next Dutch Junior Eurovision entrant began back in May, with three rounds of auditions and an acedemy process selecting the fourteen lucky finalists for Junior Songfestival 2022. At the end of last week, the broadcaster officially announced which of the finalists would be performing as a group or solo artist, and revealed the song they will be competing with.

This year’s contest will feature four acts with three of them being groups, two mixed vocal groups and one all-female group. Luna will be the only solo artist competing in the 2022 pre-selection. The song titles for Junior Songfestival are as follows:

  • High5 (Danny, Kaey, Luuk, Thijs, and Thomas) – “Because I Know”
  • MixedUp (Joep, Lois, Noor, and Sam) – “It Doesn’t Matter”
  • Infinity (Eva, Kayleigh, Larissa, and Lemay) – “Never Ever”
  • Luna – “La festa / The party”

Snippets of their songs were posted to the national selection’s official YouTube channel, along with messages from the artists and a glimpse at the photoshoot for each song’s album photo. The artists also recorded a music video for the 2022 contest’s theme “Living In a Moment” which features all 14 singers. This theme is usually performed after each artist or group has performed, and mimics the all-artist performance organized at Junior Eurovision each year.

The lyric video for the theme song has already been released on the main channel and feaures lines in both English and Dutch.

It is currently unknown when AVROTROS will choose to release the four songs, but songs are usually released throughout the month of July on a weekly basis. The live final of the Junior Songfestival 2022 will not take place until September 24th in Rotterdam via NPO Zapp, where the winner will represent the Netherlands in the 2022 Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
