Austria’s broadcaster ORF confirms a national selection in 2016

The Austrian national broadcaster ORF will organise a national final once again in 2016, its director Kathrin Zechner has confirmed.

From the experience of hosting this year’s Eurovision Song Contest the format is expected to place further importance on the Austrian music industry and the broadcaster is expected to work with the industry on finding an entry in 2016.

Other than this, it is currently unknown what format the national selection would take. In 2015, the show Wer singt für Österreich consisted of three preliminary shows before a final with the Eurovision songs and attracted mainstream and alternative artists alike to the concept.

The show selected “I am Yours” by The Makemakes, which unfortunately finished last with no points and became the first host entry to recieve nothing in the final.
