Jaguar Jonze has today released her Eurovision – Australia Decides entry, to vie for a chance to compete in Turin in May!
Jonze’s second foray into the Australia Decides landscape is a deeply emotive rock ballad entitled “Little Fires”, with a progressive build and a highly impressive single-take vocal performance.
Jonze set herself up for a sort of “songwriting camp mode” to write the song, locking herself away for a month and composing 7 songs in that time that had deep and personal meanings. She “really cared about this one” and worked with producer Aidan Hogg and instrumentalists Joseph Fallon, Jacob Mann and the Black Square Quartet to help bring her vision to life.
Upon releasing the song, Jonze said, “After being in such a disconnected space over the last couple of years, I hope [this song] is a way to reunite the world and give back to the community. I want this song to resonate with people around the world who are fighting for something bigger than they are or allowed to be… Every tiny fire can be fanned into a blaze of reckoning. It is a moment that celebrates our resilience and the little steps that lead to big change.”
