So we have our first confirmed country staying at home in 2017, although this one shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. Andorra, the contest’s only participating nation in recent years to never reach the Eurovision final, has confirmed via their broadcaster RTVA that participation for the country in Ukraine will not be viable for a number of reasons, most likely down to finances.
Andorra have not participated in Eurovision since their last performance in 2009, where Susanne Georgi failed to qualify with “La teva decisió (Get a Life)”. Since their withdrawal Andorra have been one of the first countries each year to confirm their non-participation due to financial reasons.
A shame. We hope to see Andorra back in the contest in the future!
