Last week Albanian broadcaster RTSH announced that their next Junior Eurovision representative will once again be chosen through Junior Fest, with the final to be held on September 20th.

However this year’s edition will feature a few changes according to Bojken Lako, Director of Programs at Radio Tirana. Contestants will work alongside young composers and establish Albanian composers to craft their entries for the selection, and Radio Tirana will also assist with producing the tracks. They will also be invited to perform on Radio Tirana 2, and rehearse with vocal coaches to improve their live performances prior to the final.

Speaking about the goal of this year’s selection Lako stated that: “This is a long-term strategy to create a very good music industry chain. New composers and orchestrators, with new sensibilities, oriented towards the new spirit and the new sounds must be introduced into the market. We will empower the music market with new composers and new products.”

The application period for Junior Fest 2023 is open until August 25th and those interested in participating can send their proposals via email to juniorfest@rtsh.al. The finalists for the selection will be determined by a panel of experts. The winner of Junior Fest 2023 will win the right to represent Albania at the 2023 Junior Eurovision Song Contest held in Nice, France this November.
