Aftonbladet announces the first 3 rumored acts of Melodifestivalen 2023

It may not be time for us to switch on SVT yet but Aftonbladet has begun to reveal who they believe will appear on Melodifestivalen 2023. Before revealing it is key to explain that this is according to Aftonbladet sources, as artists are kept to secrecy over their participation.

Aftonbladet has revealed three artists who according to their sources will be on the stage competing for the Songbird trophy next year. These artists are Nordman, Loulou LaMotte and Wiktoria. All 3 have previously competed at Melfest.

Nordman last competed in 2008 making the final with their song ‘I Iågornas Sken’. They are a duo of Håken Hemlin and Mats Wester who have played together since 1994. They play Folk Rock music with the Aftonbladet source who says their song for Melfest is a ‘great song’.

Loulou LaMotte is a recent Melfest competitor, competing 3 times in a row with The Mamas between 2019 and 2021. As a group, they backed John Lundvik’s win in 2019 and then won the contest themselves in 2020. This year it is reported she is back as a solo artist.

Wiktoria has competed three times, last in 2019 with ‘Not With Me’. She has progressed straight to the final each time. The source close to Aftonbladet says ‘Yes, she will be there’. Aftonbladet has a track record on predicting who will compete at the contest. Last year, of the 28 possible competitors Aftonbladet correctly predicted 22 of them and the year prior 27.

There are thousands of entries to Melfest every year with 2824 entries received this year. Melodifestivalen has now produced six Eurovision winners and have come in the top 10 eight times in the past ten years. Last year, Cornelia Jakobs won Melodifestivalen and finished 4th in Turin.
