Today it was announced that Montenegro will take part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014! Having participated as a part of Serbia & Montenegro back in 2005, the Balkan country debuts as an independent country this year. The Montenegrin broadcaster RTCG already signed all the necessary contracts to ensure a participation in the upcoming contest.

Here’s what Vladislav Yakovlev, the executive supervisor of JESC, had to say about the country’s debut:

I’d like to welcome Montenegro to the Junior Eurovision family. They qualified to the Eurovision Song Contest final for the first time this year, and I hope they will also enjoy the experience of participating in Junior Eurovision as well.

It hasn’t been specified how the Montenegrin entry will be selected. RTCG will announce all the necessary information at a later point.

Montenegro is the 11th country to confirm its participation at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 and therefore joins Armenia, Belarus, Cyprus, Georgia, Italy, Malta, The Netherlands, Russia, Sweden and Ukraine. The contest will take place on 15 November in a former shipyard in the small Maltese town of Marsa.
