In these days, the full participants list for the 2025 contest could be revealed anytime now, so now it’s just a question whether each country wish to declare their own participation, or if the EBU will do it on behalf of each broadcaster. When it comes to Poland, TVP (The Polish national broadcaster) has decided to reveal it themselves, along with much more.
Poland in ESC 2025
With the confirmation of participation, Poland became one of the very last countries to confirm thus, of the countries that also did take part in the 2024 contest. At the time of writing, only Armenia and Moldova haven’t confirmed their intentions yet.
The most likely reason for the late announcement, is most likely due to the Polish broadcaster’s planning over the last months. TVP has announced that the regulations for the 2025 contest were also done in cooperation along with publishers, journalists, music producers and OGAE Poland.
To being with, submission has already been opened up, and it will last until 4th of December 2024. When this first phase is done, a committee will invite 25 candidates to perform live, who will be informed before the 11th of December, whether they’ve made the shortlist or not.
Next step will then be for these 25 shortlisted acts to perform behind closed doors for the committee on the 19th of December in Warsaw. The broadcaster has also already informed that acts that will then be decided to take part in the national final, will be announced on the 14th of January 2025.
The final will then take place on the 14th of February in Warsaw as well, inside the headquarters of TVP.
All who wish to submit entries can fill out a formula found here, as long as any applicant follow the given rules. Among the rules we do find such as:
- Applicants must be 16 years old by May 1st 2025
- Submitted songs cannot be more than 3 minutes long
- Submission can not have been released before September 1st 2024
- Main vocalist must be of Polish origin or citizenship
- Submitted entry must be the final version
- …and so on
To finish it all off, the national final will be fully decided by only the televote. Last time Poland held a national final, which was in 2023, the final result was decided by both a jury and televote.
In 2024, Luna was given the honor of representing Poland at the 2024 contest, where she performed the song The Tower. Sadly, she only managed to gather a total of 35 points from viewers in the first semi-final, which only helped her to 12th place, which was just not enough for a spot in the final.
