Switzerland and especially the Swiss broadcaster (SRG SSR) has a lot of things to deal with in these days. Not only will we soon know where the 2025 contest will be held, but it’s also time to pick the perfect candidate, to represent the Swiss nation on home soil as well.

431 songs submitted

The final day to submit entries for the Swiss broadcaster, was set to yesterday, being 22nd of August 2024. Now that the deadline has passed, the Swiss broadcaster has revealed that a total of 431 songs will now go through the selection process, of becoming the official Swiss entry for 2025.

What happens now, is that a special jury and musical experts will work their way through all the submitted songs, in order to pick the one song that will represent Switzerland at the 2025 contest. In the coming months, contact will be made with the selected artist, preparation will be worked on, including making a music video and other promotional content, and when the Swiss broadcaster is ready, they will reveal who will be the face of the host nation, on the big Eurovision stage in May 2025.

This is how Switzerland has done their internal selection in the past few years, so it can be expected that the song will be released around March 2025. Whether a name will be revealed prior is also unknown at the moment.

Host city reveal next week

While one team works their way for selection the best song for the 2025 contest, another team is working on the final touches before we learn which city will host the 2025 contest. Basel and Genève were the final shortlisted cities, and soon one of them can be called the host city of 2025. This will be revealed on August 30th 2024 at 10:00 CET.
