Johnny Logan is Headed to Malmö!
Swedish broadcaster SVT revealed today that Logan, the two-time winning Eurovision artist for Ireland, will be performing as an interval act during this year’s first semi-final. He joins previously announced interval acts from Benjamin Ingrosso and the dynamic team-up of Eurovision winners Helena Paparizou (Greece 2005), Sertab Erener (Turkey 2003) and Charlotte Perrelli (Sweden 1999) at what is already shaping up to be a very exciting line-up of broadcasts.
In a statement released by Eurovision.tv, the 69-year-old legend expressed excitement at the news:
“To be asked to represent my country one final time is something very special for me and I’m very grateful to all involved with the decision.”
Logan represented Ireland at the contest in both 1980 and 1987, winning on both occasions. His presence at this year’s Eurovision seems especially fitting, coming one year after Loreen snagged her second Eurovision win. That victory, Sweden’s seventh, put it and Ireland at a tie for the most number of contest championships.
