In the last couple of years, certain patterns have formed and one of them, is having Portugal being the last country, to host a national final. This trend was once again the case tonight, as the 2024 national final season has now come to an end, along with the announcement of the winner in Portugal.
Festival da Canção 2024
The competition originally featured a total of 20 songs once again this year, but only 12 songs were featured in the final. This is because, the semi-finals of the competition were held the past 2 Saturdays, which led to tonight’s grand final. 10 songs competed in each of the 2 semi-finals, which 6 songs qualifying to the final from each semi-final.
With that in mind, it was then time for Filomena Cautela and Vasco Palmeirim to guide viewers through tonight’s final. These were the 12 songs competing for the Portuguese ticket to Malmö: (ordered by their running-order)
- Silk Nobre – “Change“
- Rita Onofre – “Criatura“
- Noble – “Memory“
- Buba Espinho – “O Farol“
- Nena – “Teorias da Conspiração“
- Iolanda – “Grito“
- No Maka ft. Ana Maria – “Aceitar“
- Cristina Clara – “Primavera“
- Rita Rocha – “Pontos Finais“
- Leo Middea – “Doce Mistério“

Of course, what makes Festival da Canção so special, is that Portuguese flair and style to everything, and this was also included in the special guest performances, which featured an ABBA tribute, by none other than both Mimicat and The Black Mamba.
