In the special broadcast of ERT ‘Eurovision Seen’, with Fotis Sergoulopoulos and Jenny Melita, the music video and song with which Marina Satti will represent Greece in Eurovision was presented.

Marina appeared on the set of the show and talked about the preparation for the Greek participation, two months before the competition that will take place from May 7th to 11th in Malmö, Sweden.

In the studio, there was also Fokas Evangelinos, who has overseen entries that have made their mark in the competition, as well as Thanasis Alegras and Jérome Kaluta, who presented older Greek entries in Eurovision in their own unique way and will be the narrators for the contest at ERT.

ZARI emerges as a contemporary, fully immersive Greek entry, bearing resemblance to Marina’s previous projects such as TUCUTUM or PALI. The accompanying music video showcases iconic landmarks of Athens, known both to locals and tourists alike.

However, beneath the surface lies a subtle satire aimed at challenging stereotypes commonly associated with Greece, including its cuisine, music, and perceived penchant for spontaneous dancing. Marina herself has articulated in numerous interviews her intention to dismantle these stereotypes, offering a fresh perspective on Athens and Greece as a whole.

In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the song carries a profound message symbolizing the risks inherent in life, likening it to a roll of the dice. It conveys the idea that both favorable and unfavorable outcomes are possible, yet Marina encourages embracing these risks and seizing the opportunities to live life to the fullest.

It’s worth noting that at the conclusion of the video, Marina is seen posing with and writing on a postcard featuring the Parthenon:

Dear Europe,

I am Sending you much, love from Greece, the Birthplace of democracy, philosophy, philoxenia and a bunch of other long words.

See you soon in Malmo,

filakia,

Marina Satti
