Today the first semi-final of Melodi Grand Prix has occurred, and the first slate of qualifiers have been decided as well!

Today’s show kicked off in the NRK studios in Marienlyst, Oslo and showcased a variety of electric performances. The official running order for the semi-final was decided randomly by NRK prior to the show, and would see Mathilde SPZ ft. Chris Archer & Slam Dunk open the show and former Eurovision 2013 artist Margaret Berger close.

The full running order was as follows:

  1. Mathilde SPZ ft. Chris Archer & Slam Dunk – Woman Show
  2. Fredrik Halland – Stranded
  3. Myra – Heart On Fire
  4. GOTHMINISTER – We Come Alive
  5. Ingrid Jasmin – Eya
  6. Margaret Berger – Oblivion

Following the performances and during the voting break viewers were treated to a special interval act by Elisabeth Andreassen singing her 1994 song Duett. On stage Andreassen was joined by a projection of her duet partner Jan Werner Danielsen, as he sadly passed away in 2006.

The three qualifiers from tonight’s show were decided by a 100% online voting process, and the public selected Ingrid Jasmin, Margaret Berger, and Gothminister to advance to the final on February 3rd.

The next semi-final takes place on January 20th and will see another six artists take to the stage to compete for a ticket to the final.
