The second act to be announced out of the six acts competing for Ireland’s entry to this year’s Eurovision Song Contest is Ailsha with her song Go Tobann.
It is the second song to be revealed on RTE’s The Ray D’Arcy show, which will be airing each of the six tracks and artists every day of this week. All six acts will compete on The Late Late Eurosong special on 26 January, 9:35pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player.
The song was co-written and co-produced by Ailsha, Peadar Connolly Davey and Beardfire Studios. Go Tobann means ‘suddenly’ in Irish.
Describing her song as Celtic-metal mash-up, Ailsha’s incorporates her own alternative sound, featuring native Irish language phrases scattered throughout. Originally from a musical background, Ailsha has been releasing and touring her music for over four years, with her tracks being on BBC Radio 1. In addition she also composes music for video games.

Ireland at Eurovision
Ireland debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1965 and shares a joint record total of seven wins with Sweden. It is the only country to have won three times consecutively, 1992 to 1994, with 92 winning in Malmo, Sweden with Linda Martin’s ‘Why Me’. Ireland has struggled at Eurovision of late, qualifying just twice in the last 10 years. Last year’s entry by Wild Youth failed to qualify, their song ‘We Are One’ finished 12th our 15th in their semi-final with a total of 10 points.
