Malta has officially confirmed that it will host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2014. Public Broadcasting Services Limited (PBS) in Malta will be the host broadcaster. The Chairman of PBS, Tonio Portughese, says PBS plans to engage local children in activities related to the JESC.
Junior Eurovision’s Executive Supervisor, Vladislav Yakovlev, has been in Malta this past week meeting with PBS and looking at potential venues. The specifics of the event have not been decided and will likely not be determined until 2014. However, Malta has decided it will not have a single host city, but rather the entire country will host the event.
Malta won the 2013 JESC held in Kiev last month with Gaia Cauchi’s song The Start, beating out 2nd place Ukraine by 9 points. This is Malta’s first win in Junior Eurovision and first time hosting any Eurovision event.
