Earlier today, the national broadcaster of Moldova (TRM) decided that they were ready to finally make their announcement of the participants of this year’s national final. Only a few days ago, it was revealed that the broadcaster had received a total of 51 submissions, but now the broadcaster has been through all the submissions, and in the end, 32 of these entries will now move on to the next step, which is the live audition.

Etapa Națională moving into 2024

Back in November, the broadcasters not only confirmed the country’s participation, but also the start of the national selection. Etapa Națională 2024 officially kicked off on the 22nd of November, with the opening of the submission period and lasted until very recently. Since then, all the original 51 accepted submissions have now been through an examination and only 32 of those submissions are now left in the running to represent Moldova at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest.

TRM has not only revealed the full list, but songs as well, which features the following (Alphabetical order):

  1. Aliona Moon feat Milla – “Obosit
  2. Anna G – “Ay ay ay
  3. Anna Gulko – “Perfect Place

  30. (Group) Vovi Robian – “Robotul Vovi
  31. Y-Limit – “Revolution
  32. Y-Limit – “What’s the Fun

After having a quick look through the names, it can be noticed that 3 names do appear twice on the list, the names being Oliv Sky, Valleria and Y-Limit. All 3 acts will compete in the next round, with 2 songs each, hence the competition will feature 29 different acts. Also among the list, we find two former Moldovan Eurovision representatives, the first being Aliona Moon who represented the country in 2013, and Natalia Barbu who did as well in 2007. Denis Midone has also represented Moldova, but he did it in the junior edition, back in 2012.

The majority of the list does indeed feature former participants, who should be familiar with the selection process, with only a few ones being newcomers. Some of the acts also appear under a new alias, but have participated in the past as well.

What awaits the participants now, is the upcoming live audition stage, which will be held on the 13th of January 2024. All listed acts are required to meet-up and perform their song(s) live, in front of a selected jury, who will rank each song. Should any act fail to meet-up during the live auditions, then the act will automatically be disqualified from the competition. The finalists for Selecția Națională, which will be held on the 17th of February 2024, will be selected on the same day.

All songs can be heard on the official Eurovision Moldova site in their current form.
