Sit tight, Eurovision fans, today’s news are coming to us all the way over from Serbia!
Namely, Olivera Kovačević, the creative supervisor of the “Pesma za Evroviziju” festival, was a guest on the Eurovision Stories podcast and revealed plenty new information regarding the upcoming edition of PZE.
“This year, we have a record number of applications for the Eurovision Song Contest,” said Kovačević while on the podcast. The festival has received around 235 entries, compared to last year’s 185. She pointed out the increased interest surrounding the contest, with applicants ranging from amateur recording artists to industry professionals.
She was also generous in terms of hinting at the upcoming announcements regarding the selection process. While she refrained from revealing specific names, Kovačević noted that the Selection Committee of RTS (Radio Television of Serbia) is planning to review all submitted entries on December 11, 2023. The idea is to reveal about 30 names or so before New Year’s!
Additionally, Kovačević officially confirmed the schedule for the Pesma za Evroviziju 2024, disclosing that the final is scheduled for March 2, 2024. The dates for the semifinals, set for February 27 and 29, may be subject to change based on the sports broadcasting schedules.
According to her, the visual identity of the festival has been designed and prepared. Both A.I. and “our planet” were mentioned, this making the stage concept engaging for the viewers, as well as the postcards involved. She emphasizes her hope for going a step further than last year.
Perhaps the most intriguing part of the revelation was the discussion around the potential venues for hosting the “Pesma za Evroviziju” festival, and hear this: big location such as “Sava Center” and the “Belgrade Arena” were brought up, and that the team is still “considering their options”, depending on the audience response and budgeting constraints.
We are excited to see what’s in store for PZE24!
