The first of four semi-finals for MESC 2024 has concluded tonight, with the first nine artists performing their songs for the national selection on XOW.

It is currently unknown if the official Malta Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel will upload the live performances. The running order was determined before the start of the show:

  1. Kurt Calleja – “Misunderstood”
  2. Sarah Bonnici – “Loop”
  3. Gail – “Wild Card”
  4. Mark Anthony Bartolo – “Condition Or Friction”
  5. Eliana Gomez Blanco – “There’s Only Flowers”
  6. OXYGYN – “Cloudmaker”
  7. Nathan – “Ghost”
  8. Lyndsay – “Fire Proof”
  9. Dominic Cini – “Bewsa”

The show included a litany of games for the contestants to play with the host, and also saw a guest appearance from last year’s MESC semi-final and final co-host Glen Vella. Kurt Calleja – though not the same one competing tonight – also appeared as a guest star on the show.

As a reminder, tonight’s show is a non-elimination show though jury and public televoting was conducted during the broadcast. Televoters had until 30 minutes after the broadcast to cast their votes through various SMS lines shown during each performance.

The result of the voting will not be revealed until after the final semi-final – with the top twelve scoring songs moving on to the MESC final. The semi-finals will continue every Friday until the fourth show on November 17th. The final show is scheduled for January 2024.
