This week has been a busy time in the ESCUnited bubble, as Connor bounces around Europe to interview a number of the 2023 Eurovision artists, and today we were pleased to meet with Pi (Stoffers) from Lord of the Lost. Lord of the Lost was created as a solo project back in 2007 by lead vocalist Chris Harms, and at the time his music was being posted on Myspace. Since then the band has grown to include multiple members, produced eight studio albums, and embarked on numerous international tours. And now they’re off to their next big thing, the Eurovision Song Contest.

A major part of the discussion centered around Pi’s stage persona, and Pi Stoffers the individual off stage without the make-up and costumes. He said “the onstage personas are more of an exaggerated version of who we are”, and Connor threw out the example of how drag just takes you from a 10 to a 15 on a 10 point scale. He also covered that all of the members have their own stage names but they aren’t as deep as you might thing – Chris made his name to just sounds cooler, while Class and Gared are plays on their real names. Niklas doesn’t have a stage name – he just is Niklas on and off stage.

We also talked about his ideal concert location in an eco-friendly area on an island, although if Chris didn’t get so cold he’d also love to perform in Antarctica to experience a penguin mosh pit. He’s also hoping that he (and the band) can play an accoustic gig at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, the nightclub that served as the origin point for The Beatles. While he isn’t promising it will happen, he said “it’s just a great idea……I’d just love to play there.”

As a member of the Big 5 Lord of the Lost will automatically qualify for the Grand Final of Eurovision 2023 on May 13th, but will be featured briefly during the first Semi-Final on May 9th.
