Brussels, 15 December 2022

This morning we were treated with a surprise, courtesy of Belgium’s broadcaster VRT. The titles of the fourteen songs competing in their national selection, Eurosong, have been revealed, alongside snippets of their live renditions.

Earlier, 7 artists had been revealed to be taking part in Belgium’s upcoming selection, Eurosong (their first edition since 2016). Each participating act will sing two songs at Eurosong.

The seven finalists and their two songs are as follows:

  • Ameerah – “The Carnaval” OR “Armageddon”
  • Chérine – “Ça m’ennuie pas” [It doesn’t bother me] OR “Mon étoile” [My star]
  • gala dragot – “emotion ollie” or “t’inquiète” [be worried]
  • Gustaph – “Because of you” OR “The nail”
  • Hunter Falls – “Home” OR “Ooh la la”
  • Loredana – “Dream in colours” OR “You lift me up”
  • The Starlings – “Oceanside” OR “Rollercoaster”

VRT has released a reel with live teasers from all the songs, which can be listened to here. Bear in mind that these snippets are short, and these aren’t stage performances like the ones we’ll at the national final.

At a certain point, the pool of fourteen songs will be thinned out to seven, one of each finalist. It is currently unknown how and when this early culling will take place. There’s also no info about when the 14 participating songs will be released in full.

Belgium will choose their entrant on 14 January 2023.

Do #YOU think Belgium have what it takes to qualify? Which teaser holds the most promise according to #YOU? Let is know in the comments or on social media.
