On Saturday, Area Sanremo released the list of 20 artists who would perform before the RAI Music Commission on Sunday for a place in Sanremo Giovani in December. After careful deliberation, four finalists have been chosen.
The four Area Sanremo finalists and their competing songs are:
- Colla Zio – Asfalto
- Fiat 131 – Pupille
- Noor – Tua Amelie
- Romeo & Drill – Giorno di scuola
Colla Zio and Romeo & Drill are both groups with pop and rap influences, though Colla Zio are from Milan and Romeo & Drill are based in Rome. Noor is a soloist from Urbino with a voice that could lend to either ballads or upbeat pop. Her Sanremo song “Tua Amelie” may be autobiographical, as Amelie is her middle name. Fiat 131 is a solo artist who has described his music as a hybrid of singer-songwriter language with indie and R&B sounds.
While all four have released original or cover music online, their Sanremo Giovani songs have not yet been released. The music videos will appear on the RaiPlay website along with those of the other 8 contenders sometime in the next few days.
Now that the list of finalists is complete, which of the 12 Sanremo Giovani acts do #YOU think we’ll see at the big Sanremo in February? Sound off in the forum right HERE, or visit us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Discord.
