The Albanian national broadcaster RTSH has revealed their dates for the Albanian national selection for this year. As per tradition, Albania is one of the first countries to select their representatives in a non-internal selection format, through the 52 year old Festivali i Këngës music festival. Since 2003, the winner of the Festival got the honour of representing Albania on the Eurovision stage.

This year’s Festival will be held over three days, on December 20, 21 and 22. More details will be revealed in the coming months.

Albania debuted on the Eurovision stage in 2004, achieving an excellent 7th place with Anjeza Shahini’s “The Image of you”.  The country has managed to qualify to Eurovision finals for six years out of the last ten years, with its highest placing coming in 2012 with Rona Nishliu’s ballad “Suus”. Rona managed to get a 5th place in the Final, while placing second in her Semi Final, only six points behind the winning Russian entry.
