With the BBC’s announcement on the 27th of September naming Glasgow and Liverpool as the shortlisted cities for hosting the upcoming contest, many have been speculating on the hosts. Many names are being thrown around, one in particular, being the BBC’s lead commentator Graham Norton.
Graham Norton himself appeared on ITV’s This Morning with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield to discuss many things including Eurovision. Phil and Holly questioned Graham’s plans for Eurovision 2023 asking if he had “thrown his hat into the ring.” With Holly adding that it is “his job surely?” Graham’s reply was “I don’t want to give up commentating.” Adding he was worried “someone might take over and do a better job at it.”
Graham Norton is a very popular character in the UK. He has now commentated for the BBC since Terry Wogan stepped down in 2009 as well as hosting Eurovision Greatest Hits, for the contest’s 60th anniversary in 2015. As well as these he hosts his own radio show on Virgin and a TV talk show on BBC One.
So although he is no stranger to hosting he is very much contempt with commentating on Eurovision 2023. Although he did admit he would be happy to “wander on and wave” during the broadcast. So although the 53-year-old is not to host, who is?
Well according to EurovisionWorld after Graham Norton, Rylan Clark-Neil and Scott Mills finish up the top 3 of the betting odds. Both are the commentators for the semi-finals on the BBC. Others in the top 10 include presenters Ant & Dec, Emma Willis and former footballer Alex Scott.
