It’s not just the UK’s most recent Eurovision star seeing royal approval this week, as it’s been revealed that 2013 representative Bonnie Tyler has been awarded an MBE honour (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in the Queen’s Jubilee Honours list for her long-time services to music!
The “Believe In Me” and “Total Eclipse of the Heart” singer is among over 1,000 recipients of honours in the latest list from the British monarch, which includes a recognition of a number of entertainers, actors, singers, athletes and those who have helped with charity work and community for their services to British society.
Reacting to the news on Twitter, Tyler wrote “My feet haven’t touched the ground yet, I am so excited about this and it’s extra special with it being a landmark year for the Queen”.
Bonnie Tyler’s work over 5 decades in the music industry has seen the Welsh singer recognised for her achievements, with over 20 million records sold worldwide and two of the highest selling singles of all time. She represented the UK at Eurovision 2013 in Malmö with “Believe In Me”, finishing 19th.
Sam Ryder, the latest UK participant and recipient of second place in the 2022 concert, will feature as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee concert in front of Buckingham Palace, London, on 4th June – making it a right royal weekend for UK Eurovision artists!
