Feel like detoxing from a mediocre Melfest heat? Join us in Portugal to watch Earth’s most atmospheric fashion show: Festival da Canção.

Like every heat of the Portugese musical bonanza, it was once again a serve of avant-garde apparel set to fabulous LoFi lounge music. Check up on who performed tonight:

Line-up:

  1. Da Chick – “I Got Music”
  2. Tainá – “Jasmim”
  3. Ariana – “Mundo melhor”
  4. EU.CLIDES – “VOLTE-FACE”
  5.  Joana Alegre – “Joana do mar”
  6.  Pedro Gonçalves – “Não vou ficar”
  7. Ana Tereza – “Com um abraço”
  8. Carolina Deslandes – “Por um triz
  9. Graciela – “A vida sem acontecer”
  10. NEEV – “Dancing in the Stars”

Notable fashion hits include Da Chick‘s expressive Easter Beads top, Joana Alegre‘s ocean blue top/sand-coloured pants combo, Graciela‘s painter’s outfit that was tastefully cut into a flowy dress, and EU.CLIDES‘s ‘hot guy sitting on a bar crutch in an emerald bathrobe‘ look.

The Format

Like every week, the qualifiers were decided by a 50/50 jury and televote split. The televote was open for several hours, giving the Portugese ample time to discuss the songs with their family and friends (urged to #StayAtHome by the Portugese broadcaster), before thoughtfully casting their votes for their favourite.

The many song recaps were bridged together with a slew of interviews, and nostalgic throwbacks to the halcyon days of old Festival da Canção (it wouldn’t be Portugal without a generous dollop of saudade), but between all the chatter we were graced by 1996 contestant Lúcia Moñiz, who brought a contemportary rendition of her classic, ‘O meu coração não tem cor‘, proving the world she still has it.
