Sweden is gearing up for the annual Melodifestivalen artist reveal. This year, due to Covid-19, the artist reveal will be different. As from tomorrow, and the following 3 days, the official artists and song titles announcement is expected. The Eurovision community is eager!

What do we know so far? 

The 61st edition of the competition will be held between 6th February and 13th March 2021. Unlike previous years, the competition is expected to be held all in Stockholm, without audience.

Who are the expected artists according to Swedish tabloids?

  • Dotter – Johanna Maria Johnson known as Dotter competed the first time in Melodifestivalen in 2018, and places 2nd in last year’s competition, now it’s being reported that she will be competing again in 2021.

  • Jessica Andersson – The winner of Melodifestivalen 2003, as part of the group Fame, and reached the 5th place in Eurovision Song Contest 2003 is expected back to the competition. The last time we have seen Jessica in the competition was in 2018 with the entry Party Voice.

  • Eric Saade –The winner of Melodifestivalen 2011, and reached the 3rd place in Eurovision Song Contest 2011 is expected back to the competition. The last time we have seen Eric Saade in the competition was in 2015 with the entry Sting & presented the show in 2019 alongside Sarah Dawn Finer, Marika Carlsson and Kodjo Akolor.

 

  • Charlotte Perrelli – One of Sweden’s most popular female singers, who won Melodifestivalen twice in 1999 & 2008 and also won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1999 is set to return to the competition.

  • The Mamas – Last year’s winners of Melodifestivalen are expected back to the competition. Their entry Move won the competition with the total of 137 points and they had the right to representing Sweden in Rotterdam last May, however as we all know the competition was cancelled due to Covid-19.

Other artists expected to compete are Klara Hammarström, Alvaro Estrella, Arvingarna, Paul Rey, Danny Saucedo & Anton Ewald
