It’s all gearing up in Sweden for the next edition of Melodifestivalen. Tomorrow the official artists and song titles announcement is expected, and the Eurovision community can’t wait!
What do we know so far?
The 60th edition of the competition will be held between 1st February and 7th March 2019. Linkoping, Gothenburg, Lulea & Malmö will host the semi-finals while Eskilstuna will host the second chance show known as Andra Chansen. Stockholm will host the final in Solna.
The presenting group this year will be Lina Hedlund (Melodifestivalen legend), David Sundin (television presenter), & Linnea Henriksson (singer & songwriter)
Who are the expected artists according to Swedish tabloids?
- Amanda Assa was chosen by a professional jury to be pre-qualified for Melodifestivalen during the 2019 edition of the Swedish talent show P4 Nästa in August. She is the first confirmed artist for this year’s competition.
- Victor Crone – Victor represented Estonia in last year’s competition. He reached the 20th place in the grand final. Is he ready to go back to Eurovision by performing on the Melodifestivalen stage?
- Dotter – Johanna Maria Johnson known as Dotter competed the first time in Melodifestivalen in 2018, and it is being reported that she will be competing again in 2020.
- The Mamas – Having accompanied John Lundvik last year during Melodifestivalen and also the Eurovision Song Contest, The Mamas are ready to bring more joy to the televiewers this time as a group!
- Robin Bengtsson & Mariette – After they were spotted at the Melo camp last summer, it is being reported that both artists may have joined in a duet. This would be Mariette’s 4th appearance in Melodifestivalen. Robin has already won the competition in 2017 and reached the 5th place at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev.
- Linda Bengtzing – The famous pop artist is set to be back in the competition after 4 years of absence. This will be her 7th attempt.
