As we are reporting all the juicy Eurovision related news from sunny Tel Aviv, the national broadcaster of Denmark (DR) has announced that Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2020 will be held in Copenhagen on the 7th of March.

Preparation is already ongoing, and tickets can already be bought now!

The 2020 national final will be the first time that the national final is held in the capital since 2002, and the first time to be held on the isle of Zealand since 2011. Last time Dansk Melodi Grand Prix was held close to the capital was in the city of Ballerup, which is about 15 km from the capital, when it was held in Ballerup Super Arena.

Fear not either – the national final will not be hosted in the B&W Hallerne, which hosted the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, but will be held in the newly built Royal Arena, which was completed in 2016 and opened in 2017.

Despite a brand new arena, it already has shown it’s potential. Royal Arena has already hosted multiple e-sports events, sports events, concerts and much more.

The arena was even built with the purpose of being ready, in case the Eurovision Song Contest will return in the near future to Denmark. Seeing as Ballerup Super Arena, which hosted DMGP 2011, is too small. While the national stadium Parken, which hosted ESC 2001, is considered too big.

The Mayor of Copenhagen has even already announced, that he is already looking forward to welcoming the national final back to the capital.
