It’s a difficult time to be a Eurovision fan, cause in these days, there is just always something to watch, and sometimes, you’re just forced to pick some shows, instead of some others.

One of the shows tonight, was the kick-off show of Eesti Laul, so now Estonia joins the line of multiple Eurovision shows. Semi-final 1 took place, and in total, we had 10 songs that competed in tonight’s show.

The following the acts of tonight, in the following order:

  1. Elina Born – In or Out
  2. Carl-Philip – Everything But You
  3. Laura Prits – Hey Kiddo
  4. Leemet Onnon – Hurricane
  5. Ivo Linna – Suur Loterii
  6. Lenna Kuurmaa – Slingshot
  7. Karl-Kristjan & Whogaux feat. Maian – Have You Now
  8. Janno Raim & Kosmos – Valan Pisaraid
  9. Ariadne – Feel Me Now
  10. Uku Suviste – Supernatural

3 of tonight’s performers, have previously participated in Eurovision in the past, however, only 2 of them represented Estonia, while the 3rd act represented Switzerland.

Elina Born who opened the show, represented Estonia only 2 years ago, along with Stig Rästa, they represented Estonia in 2015, in Vienna, and came 7th in the final. Ivo Linna, represented Estonia as well, but in a duet with Maaarja-Kiis Ilus, they sang the song “Kaelakee Hääl” in 1996, which finished 5th overall. Last act, is Lenna Kuurmaa, who along with Vanilla Ninja, represented Switzerland with “Cool Vibes” back in 2005, when the contest was held in Kyiv, the band finished overall on 8th. 3 former Eurovision Participants, who all finished on high positions.

In a very chill and relaxed semi-final, the artists competing tonight were pretty much having a good time with the hosts in the green room.

The 5 acts that would progress to the final, would be decided by a combined Jury & Televote, each having 50% decision on the final outcome.

In a random order, the following 4 were announced to progress to the final:

  • Elina Born – In or Out
  • Ivo Linna – Suur Loterii
  • Lenna Kuurmaa – Slingshot
  • Karl-Kristjan & Whogaux feat. Maian – Have You Now

Noticeable, is how all 3 artists who had been to Eurovision before, all qualified, however, after the first 4 names were announced to the final, a extra chance was given, to the remaining 6 acts, to get the last ticket to the Estonian final.

After a second voting chance, the final spot was given to…

  • Ariadne – Feel Me Now

The 5 acts will return in 3 weeks time, when the final of Eesti Laul 2017 takes place, on the 4th of March 2017.
