As previously mentioned, the Georgian national broadcaster has opted for an internal selection for Eurovision 2016. Today, it has been announced by both GPB and the EBU that Nika Kocharov and his band Young Georgian Lolitas will represent the Caucasian country in the contest in Stockholm.
With a distinct alternative sound comprising indie rock and electronic synths, GPB is aiming for another alternative success in 2016. The broadcaster has begun an open call for songs that would fit the band, with a particular request for songs that fit the description of “melodic song structure of alternative and indie rock with electronic beats, synths and/or samples, and club orientation of post-disco dance music”. It is unknown whether the band themselves will compose any songs for the selection.
The submission process for Georgia’s song will close on January 8th 2016 and all interested parties may submit their song alongside a photo and CV to eurovision@gpb.ge. The successful five entries will compete in a public selection where one will be chosen by jury and televote to represent Georgia in 2016.
