The opening ceremony for the 2015 Junior Eurovision Song Contest has been postponed out of respect for the tragedy which occurred in Paris, France, last night. This decision was made as a joint effort between BNT (the Bulgarian national TV channel) and the EBU.

Last night a group of terrorist attacks occurred in Paris, where at least 128 people were killed in act “act of war” as it has been described by the French President, Francois Hollande. The terrorist group, the so called ‘Islamic State’, have claimed they organised the attacks on the French capital yesterday, causing the Hollande to declare a state of Emergancy in his country, this is only the 4th time this has been declared since WWII. The President also declared three days of mourning, which has also been adopted by the Bulgarian Broadcaster BNT, leading to the decision to postpone the opening ceremony as a sign of respect.

The opening ceremony will take place next week, once the mourning period of over and BNT can continue to broadcast entertainment shows. The running order draw will take place tomorrow, although there will be no press and the event will be scaled down, inviting just the delegation.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to those in France, and worldwide, effected by this vile act of terror, in which the only thought was to destroy and take innocent lives.
