A few days ago it was rumoured that the rock band Minus One would represent Cyprus in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm next May. Today it has been officially revealed that the rumours were in fact true!
Minus One are a well-known rock group in Cyprus and have been for a number of years. You may know them from the 2015 Eurovision Song Project, where they attempted to represent Cyprus with the song “Shine”, where they ended in 3rd place in the national final.
The song has not yet been announced, but some details have been. The songwriter is no other than Sweden’s Thomas G:son, who has written a number of Eurovision entries over the last 14 years, including the 2012 winnner “Euphoria” by Loreen.
The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Stockholm on the 10th, 12th and 14th of May in the Globe Arena, where Cyprus will be hoping to gain their first ever Eurovision win. Their fate is in the hands of Minus One and Thomas G:son.
