Australia’s broadcaster for the Eurovision Song Contest, SBS, has confirmed that the song to represent Australia is ready and will be revealed to the Australian public and Europe on March 16th (in Australian time). That means it is likely we will hear the first (and likely only) Australian Eurovision song this Sunday in Europe.
SBS had previously announced that Australian Idol and one of the country’s most popular singers Guy Sebastian would be flying the Australian flag in Vienna. In his press conference he confided that it was a decision ‘down to two songs’ but it now seems that Australia have chosen one. Whether the entry is one of these two or a new song written for Eurovision is unclear but all will be revealed this weekend!
