On one of the last days that broadcasters could register interest in joining Eurovision 2015 we have had some fantastic news, as both Serbia and Bulgaria look set to return to the contest after taking a break in 2014, making it highly plausible the number of participants next year will exceed 40 for the first time since 2012.
Serbia’s broadcaster have suggested that they still reserve the right to withdraw if funding should cause an issue but this is a very positive step in the right direction for the Balkan nation, last represented in 2013 by Moje 3 who failed to qualify.
Likewise, Bulgaria has showed that their continued interest in Eurovision will not fade, and have signed preliminary papers for the EBU, suggesting that the national broadcaster BNT has achieved the necessary funds this year.
Today also brings the news that should be of no surprise to anybody, as Spain are the last prequalified nation to confirm their intention to participate in Vienna.
As a result, only a handful of countries are yet to confirm. Albania, Croatia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, San Marino, Slovenia and Ukraine remain quiet about 2015, although only Croatia, Moldova, Slovenia and Ukraine have yet to even release a statement about the next contest.
